The Great Pit bus tour
One of our guides will join your coach and take you on a tour around the vast open pit, the Great Pit (Stora Stöten). We share the story of Falu Mine above ground – about headframes, engine houses and wheelhouses. And of course, about the great collapse of 1687.

Guided tour under ground
Welcome underground! Explore the unique 17th-century setting with winding passageways, deep shafts and vast chambers. It is important that everyone in the group is able to manage stairs.

Guided Tour of the Historic Buildings
Around the open pit stand headframes, engine houses and wheelhouses – reminders of the work carried out underground for hundreds of years. Join a guide to visit the Creutz headframe, Creutz engine house, Creutz wheelhouse and the Husberg pivot.

Guided Tour of the Mine Museum
A visit to the Mine Museum, one of Sweden’s first technical museums, is a deep dive into a thousand years of Swedish history – from the discovery of the mine in Viking times to its designation as a World Heritage Site in 2001. A lift is available for those who have difficulty using stairs.

The Eldkuren Viewpoint
A short walk takes you to Eldkuren, a viewing point in the middle of the vast Great Pit (Stora Stöten). Our guide shares the fascinating history of Falu Mine and the great collapse of 1687.

Experience the Great Pit on a horse and carriage tour.
