How much does it cost to go down into the mine?

How do I buy a ticket?
The easiest way is to buy your ticket here on our website. You can also buy tickets for the mine tour and the museum on site, but if you want to guarantee a spot on a mine tour, we recommend booking in advance. If you would like to make a group booking or book a conference, please contact us.
Is the museum included in the ticket?
If the museum is open, it is always included in your ticket. When booking your ticket, you will see exactly what is included. Current opening hours can be found here
Is there an age limit for the underground guided tour?
You must be at least three years old and able to walk on your own to join an underground tour. Children may not be carried below ground, whether in a carrier or in your arms. There is no upper age limit, but there are many stairs, so it’s important to be physically able to manage the walk.
Are pets allowed on an underground guided tour?
No, pets are not allowed in the mine or in the Mining Museum. However, leashed dogs are welcome in the mine area above ground.
Is the mine area accessible?
The guided underground tour is not accessible, but many other areas above ground are. Read more about accessibility here.
Where can I park?
We have a large parking area next to our Visitor Centre. Parking costs 20 SEK during June, July, and August. More information on how to find us is available here.
What’s the temperature underground?
The temperature in the mine is always around six degrees Celsius (43°F).
Is it wet in the mine?
Yes, it is wet underground. We recommend wearing sturdy, weatherproof shoes. Rain capes and helmets are available to borrow on site.
How many stairs do you walk during the underground guided tour?
You’ll take about 700 steps during the tour.
Is smoking allowed in the mine area?
There is no general smoking ban in the area, but please be considerate of other visitors and avoid smoking near our historic buildings due to the fire risk. During periods of extreme drought, a total fire ban—including smoking—may apply. If unsure, please ask our staff.
Can I bring my own food to eat in the mine area?
There are designated outdoor picnic areas and barbecue spots around the Great Pit (Stora Stöten). These are marked on maps around the site. There are no indoor picnic areas and no facilities for heating food.
Can I take photos during my visit to the Falun Mine?
Yes, you’re welcome to take photos and videos for personal use, both above and below ground. However, filming with drones is not allowed, as it may disturb protected birds nesting in the area.
